Someone Everybody Listens To
Where Have All the Leaders Gone?
The End of Forever
In my series of books, I have taken the canvas itself and used to create a piece of art. Form and space are used to define the books depth. Line plays an important part of this series. The straight and wavy lines evoke a large range of emotions. The pages glued together in loops represent sudden changes in ones plan or disappointment brought on by these changes. After removing many pages from the first piece of the series, Someone Everybody Listens To, I glued the ends together to form a loop. The pages are glued inside the book and falling out to represent how not everything goes as planned. By mixing acrylic paint with craft water on the front cover, the plan becomes a complete mess. As the series continues with the second piece, Where Have All the Leaders Gone?, the pages are left intact. By keeping the pages connected all the hard work and practice is slowly coming together. Then a competition number was glued to the cover and craft water flows from the spine to both covers to make it transparent. The transparency shows everything eventually works out although it isn't always that easy to see how all the work will pay off. With the last piece in the book series, The End of Forever, all of the pages are folded in half to create a cylinder. Craft water mixed with red and yellow food coloring was poured over the top. This process represents when something finally ends up working out, a surprise comes and everything falls apart. A surprise traps the hope of fulfilling the plan. The wavy lines of the pages show how up and down life can be. The overall feeling of the book series is hope. Hope to complete something, anything that seems impossible to reach. The picture imagine isn't always how it's supposed to be.
